Writing

Creative writing if not my strong suit, has been alluring to me at the very least ever since I was a child. I would write my parents poems and stories, with various colorful drawings as if they were getting really published. When I was 9 years old, I sent my very first poem to the New Yorker because I had yet to understand what it meant to be published and how difficult it was. The response I received on my poem about war was that I was a bold girl with budding talent, and that I should try again when I was older. I would certainly go on again to keep trying.

I kept writing small things as I got older and when I was in high school, I started submitting to literary journals and magazines fervently. However, I didn’t have much luck most of the time. Until I did in 2020 for the first time. It gave me courage to keep trying, and I even wrote in my high school newspaper to keep honing different writing skills.

At the moment I have a total of 6 poems published in small journals, but I have not submitted anything recently as I have been trying my hand at other forms of writing that are not yet ready to be read by eyes other than my own. I hope to resume soon.
